Sherman – The board discussed the library expansion plan and the proposal concerning the town’s right of way for Sawmill Road and the potential future development of the town. Mr. Paul Szymanski, the professional engineer representing the library plan, presented resolutions to the right of way concerns and provided a detailed plan for a pedestrian sidewalk.
The sidewalk would run adjacent to the parking lot and then behind the parking lot and down the eastern side and continue to the edge of the property. This will allow for a safe pedestrian walkway off of Saw Mill Road. The current entrance is the only item to fall into the town’s right of way. Mr. Szymanski pointed out that the current entrance is not safe due to the curb cut being pushed right out onto Route 37. Therefore the entrance will be modified and the SNET pole will be relocated. There will be one-way traffic flowing through the library parking lot, with one entry point and one exit point. There will also be 36 parking spaces which is a significant increase over current parking. The board members were pleased with the presentation and Mrs. O’Connor approved the revised plan to move forward. This project will go before the Zoning Board of Appeals.
