‘Trunk or treat’ sweetens Halloween

A steady drizzle failed to dampen the spirits of a single soul on Halloween in downtown New Milford.

And how could it?

New Milford Parks & Recreation again hosted its popular Halloween Trunk or Treat, a trick-or-treating event, Oct. 31 along the Village Green on Main Street.

The event was offered for a third straight year as an alternative to traditional neighborhood trick-or-treating.

Residents were invited to decorate their vehicles and hand out candy to children, and many dozens of area folks responded to the call.

That made it downright easy for thousands of children and their families to stroll Main Street, comparing costumes and exchanging friendly smiles, all the while hauling in the tasty treats.

Those who remembered were thoughtful to donate a bag of candy to Parks & Recreation for redistribution that evening.

Adding color to the two-hour event was the arrival of the “Thriller” flash mob on the Green. The mob comprised dozens of teens (and somewhat older) folks dressed as zombies.
