Wetlands Commission Hears Revision Requests

ROXBURY — Inland and Wet­lands Commission members, meeting Tuesday, June 24, dealt with an enforcement issue at 71 South Street. Approximately a week ago, trees were removed on the prop­erty and two piles of dirt were left, temporarily, in the street causing a traffic issue.

Commissioners asked owners Chris and Teresa Dannen to stop any further tree removal and come before the commission at the next meeting. “The concern with this is the property is uphill from wet­lands,” Commissioner Pat O’Conner said. “We ask that the own­ers come back with a plan and map at the next meeting for review.” The commission, Mr. Dannen and Engineer Paul Szymanski of Arthur H. Howland & Associ­ates, New Milford, discussed landscaping options last Tues­day. Plans and maps will be brought to the next meeting.

The Dannens also have an application before the commis­sion for .property on Apple Lane/South Street, Map 17, Lot 23, where they wish to build a house. Mr. Szymanski told commis­sioners that “the plans have been completely revised.” The new proposal is for a lot line revision.

Originally, the Dannens pro­posed to build the house in the southwestern corner of the prop­erty, served by an approximately 750 feet of driveway. The proposed home is now in the northwest corner, reducing the driveway by 250 feet. The square footage of the house has been reduced from 3,500 to 1,800 square feet.

The size of a planned swim­ming pool has been reduced to 60 percent of what it was and the patio has been reduced to less than half the original size. A proposed barn/outbuilding has been removed. The wetlands proximity has been addressed. The topsoil stockpile has been relocated to a temporary, flat area. The site will be marked out when commissioners walk the property.
