The mission of the Bridgewater Health Department is to prevent disease, maintain a healthy environment and promote community health for the citizens of the Town of Bridgewater. The Department of Health is responsible for protecting the health of the public including but not limited to: reviewing and approving septic and well installation and repairs, reviewing and approving improvements and additions that may impact the septic and/or well, inspecting restaurants. It shall be noted that the Bridgewater Department of Health is a part of the Newtown Health District.

This document is the actual permission to proceed with the construction of your approved septic system. A licensed septic installer will need to be retained to provide professional installation of the septic system.

The Health department will review their existing files to see if any additional soils testing is required to confirm that a reserve area for the septic system will still exist on the property if an addition is constructed.

Bridgewater Health Department Plan Review Application for Subdivision
This form must be filled out and submitted if you are proposing a subdivision or resubdivision. The Sanitarian will review the plans to ensure that all applicable requirements with regards to the placement of the proposed wells and primary and reserve septic areas are in accordance with the State of Connecticut Public Health Code.
